Looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities in Waukesha County? The Salvation Army has been changing lives and offering hope for generations - but we can’t do it without dedicated volunteers like you! Whether you’re passionate about feeding families, helping with holiday fundraising, or supporting children, there’s a place for you here.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Food Pantry Volunteer
When: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 1 - 4 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. - noon
What You’ll Do:
- Sort and organize incoming food donations
- Assist clients in choosing pantry items
- Package groceries for distribution
Meal Program Volunteer
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 4 - 6 p.m. (dinner served 5 - 5:40 p.m.)
What You’ll Do:
- Help set up the dining room
- Prep and serve meals for 50–100 guests
- Assist with cleanup after dinner
Bell Ringer Volunteer
Registration opens October 1, 2025
What You’ll Do:
- Spread holiday cheer while helping raise funds through our iconic Red Kettle Campaign.

Seasonal & Special Volunteer Opportunities
- Christmas & Fundraising Volunteers (November–December)
- Ring bells at a Red Kettle shift or adopt a kettle location
- Help with Red Kettle pick-ups and drop-offs (drivers needed)
- Feed The Kids Summer Program (June–August, Weekdays)
- Prepare and serve nutritious lunches to children in local parks Monday–Friday
How to Become a Volunteer
- Review our volunteer opportunities and decide which role interests you.
- Check your schedule to see which days and times work best.
- Complete our online volunteer application and create a username and password.
- All volunteers must pass a background check and complete the Safe From Harm online training. (Volunteers under 18, please contact Amber at 262-875-4568 for details.)
- Once approved, log in to see available shifts and sign up for the opportunities that fit your schedule.
