Emergency Disaster Services
The Salvation Army is one of the nation’s largest federally recognized emergency disaster service agencies, assisting 1–2 million disaster survivors and first responders across the United States each year.
As a member of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), The Salvation Army helped shape the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Response Framework. In every disaster relief effort, the Army’s priority is to meet the immediate needs of survivors and first responders - providing material assistance, physical care, and spiritual or emotional support.

Local Involvement
All Salvation Army disaster response services are managed locally, by people who live and work in the communities they serve. When tragedy strikes in your community, remember that The Salvation Army is on the scene, alongside fire, police, and rescue personnel. Volunteers are needed for behind-the-scenes and frontline work. We welcome your involvement.
