The Salvation Army is one of the nation’s largest federally recognized emergency disaster service agencies, assisting 1–2 million disaster survivors and first responders across the United States each year.
As a member of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), The Salvation Army helped shape the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Response Framework. In every disaster relief effort, the Army’s priority is to meet the immediate needs of survivors and first responders - providing material assistance, physical care, and spiritual or emotional support.
