Janesville Programs and Services
The Salvation Army of Rock County is committed to offering hope and support to families and individuals during the holiday season and throughout the year. Together with our community partners, donors, and volunteers, we strive to meet immediate needs while empowering families to build brighter futures.
Christmas Assistance Program
This program provides gifts for children and Christmas food baskets for individuals and families with or without children. Applications for Christmas assistance begin in October. We collect toys at local businesses around Rock County through the Angel Tree Program. Toys are then distributed to low-income families in need of help with providing Christmas gifts for their children.
If you are a business and are interested in hosting a toy drive or Angel Tree collection, please reach out to Michelle Adkins at 608-757-8300 ext 216.
Community Meal
A free meal is provided every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 12 - 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome; no eligibility documentation is required.
Food Pantry
A food pantry is available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Families are eligible for grocery orders every 30 days. No appointment is needed whether you are a new or returning client.
Emergency Assistance
Many families find themselves in situations where they need a little support, which is why The Salvation Army Emergency Assistance Program was developed. Assistance that individuals and families may qualify for may consist of, but is not limited to, transportation, rent and clothing, etc., for residents in Rock County.
Men's Club
The Men's Club is a men's fellowship group open to all men in the community. Call 608-757-8300 with questions on upcoming events or how to get involved.
Pathway of Hope
The Salvation Army offers holistic and strengths-based case management services to families with children who have a desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and attain a level of increased stability. Families will work in partnership with their case manager and ministry staff to develop an action plan as well as assess their strengths and progress while receiving support and encouragement to reach their goals.
Thanksgiving Dinner
A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served on Thursday, November 27, 2025. We will not be available for deliveries of any meals, as this is an in-person event.
Transitional Housing Program
The Salvation Army Transitional Housing Program is a unique self-sufficiency program that addresses underlying issues related to homelessness. They do this by providing stable housing and ongoing case management for 6-24 months. This program is for families with children under 18 only. Please contact a case worker for more information.
Women's Auxiliary
The purpose of the Women's Auxiliary (SAWA) is to assist The Salvation Army through volunteerism and fundraising. The Women's Auxiliary provides an opportunity for women to meet in a spiritual atmosphere, form new relationships, and contribute their skills and resources to better our community and the world around us. In Rock County, the SAWA has two major events a year: the Fabric and Craft Sale, which takes place late summer/early fall each year, and the Flower Sale, which takes place just before Mother's Day. The SAWA members also play a large role in volunteering for The Salvation Army Rock County throughout the year and are always looking for new members to join!
