Senior Programming
The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay offers a range of programs and activities designed to help older adults (age 50+) in Brown County stay active, independent, and socially connected. Enrollment is annual, and once registered, seniors can choose to participate in as many - or as few - activities as they like each month, simply signing up for the events they wish to attend. By joining, participants become part of a welcoming community and enjoy the benefits of fun, friendship, and fellowship.
Grocery Shopping
Grocery/discount shopping occurs on two Mondays each month. The vehicle leaves The Salvation Army Corps Community Center at 8:45 a.m. to begin picking up participants. A morning of shopping is followed by lunch at a local restaurant before participants are returned home. The only cost for this activity is the transportation charge, which is $3. Lunch is on the participant's expense. Sign up in advance by calling (920) 593-2362.
Bridge Club
This group meets every Monday and Tuesday in the senior room from 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. There is no transportation provided for this activity. The bridge club offers all skill levels from beginners to advanced. There is no cost to play bridge, just a $1 donation toward the snacks and coffee. All bridge players must register ahead of time by calling (920) 593-2362.
Exercise
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, there is senior volleyball in the gym from 1 - 3 p.m. On Fridays, we also offer pickleball from 9:30 - 11 a.m. There are annual fees for these programs. Contact John at (920) 593-2376 for information and registration.
Lunches and Social Activities
Every Wednesday, lunch is served in the senior room at 12:00 p.m. Lunch is followed by cards, bingo, and special activities from 1:15 - 3 p.m. The cost of lunch and bingo is $4. Round-trip transportation is available for an additional $2 cost. Register for lunch and transportation by calling (920) 593-2362.
Super Senior Day
Join us at the Kroc Center on the forth Friday of the month, starting at 9:30 a.m. Activities start at 10 a.m. and include crafts, bingo, games, and entertainment. Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. with entertainment from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Cost is $5. Registration is required. Call (920) 593-2362 to register.
Special Outings and Day Trips
Are you adventurous? Then join our Senior Program for one of our many special trips and outings! You can visit a place in Wisconsin you've never been before, go back to a favorite spot, or even go on a "mystery tour" in which the destination is known only to the staff and bus driver! You can also take in a baseball game, a WaterBoard Warrior ski show, or a concert in the park or at the Meyer Theater. Dates, times, and costs of these special outings vary, so the best way to get the information is to refer to the monthly newsletter.
The Salvation Army Lake Camp
Sign up for a whole week of Senior Camp in August. There are many activities to do at the camp and lots of friends to share great times with. The Senior Program will provide transportation to and from the camp. Costs for these events vary, so check the camp registration materials available in the Senior Room.
Hmong Elders Support Group
This group meets at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center twice per month. There are both educational programs and trips into the community. Join in the fun and fellowship. Transportation and a translator are provided.
Join The Fun!
Register for all Senior Program activities by calling (920) 593-2362. Dates and times may change so please call ahead. Many of the Senior Program activities have a small fee, however, The Salvation Army does not want the cost of any activity to keep a senior from participating. Please contact our Senior Program to discuss fees if these are a hardship.
