Food Assistance

The Salvation Army of Fond du Lac County provides more than half a million pounds of food annually to individuals and families in need. Partnering with local organizations, we deliver essential groceries, personal care items, and programs that offer food for the body and hope for the future.

Pulling the Community Through Tough Times

“I lost my job and went through my savings. Being able to come to The Salvation Army for groceries was a huge relief. Everyone is so friendly and helpful—I didn’t even know this kind of support existed.”

Stories like this are why we serve. The Salvation Army Food Pantry is part of the largest circle of supportive services in Fond du Lac County, addressing not just food insecurity but the root causes of homelessness and poverty.

Unlike agencies that only provide one-time assistance, The Salvation Army offers long-term, trauma-informed care including:

  • Case management & strengths-based coaching
  • Financial counseling & pastoral care
  • Addiction recovery & mental health support
  • Clothing, school supplies, bus passes, work boots, laundry access
  • Seasonal programs like Coats for Kids, Angel Tree, and the Brown Bag Lunch Program

With licensed social workers and substance abuse counselors on staff, we walk alongside individuals on their journey to stability.

How We Nourish Our Community

BIG Indoor Pantry

Our food pantry in Fond du Lac stocks not only fresh and shelf-stable groceries, but also essentials like personal care items and cleaning supplies - things SNAP/Quest cards don’t cover. These necessities are crucial for maintaining dignity and health.

Pantry Hours:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Summer Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Families may visit once every 30 days. Food quantities vary by household size and pantry resources.

LITTLE Pantry – Always Open

For after-hours needs, our outdoor LITTLE Pantry provides shelf-stable food on weekends and holidays. This 24/7 option was inspired by the Hope on the Block initiative, made possible by community partners like The Tighe Family and Taycheedah Correctional Institution.

Holiday Food Programs

Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners - Traditional meals for families to celebrate together.

Summer Brown Bag Lunch Giveaway - Fond du Lac’s longest-running free lunch program (since 1993) serving kids June - August. Each lunch includes a sandwich, fruit/vegetable, snack, dessert, and drink.

Powered by Volunteers & Community Support

The heart of our pantry beats through the dedication of volunteers like Ray Gorden, one of our inaugural Golden Kettle Legacy Memorial members, who gave his time and love to serve others. His legacy inspires us as we continue this mission.

Our work is only possible through:

  • Funding from the Department of Health Services
  • Donations from local businesses & individuals
