Safe and Nurturing After-School Programming

At The Salvation Army, we provide affordable after-school programming with dedicated staff to help kids of all ages with school work, study guidance and literacy advancement. We open our doors to anyone in need and never discriminate based on gender, ethnicity or socioeconomic level.  Scholarships are available.

Youth Mentoring

Mondays during the school year at our community center building located at 310 N 16th Ave. in Yakima The Salvation Army hosts free youth mentoring programming with a focus on skill development and community building.  Grades K-6th engage in a diverse curriculum similar to “scouting” style programs, complete with earning badges.  Dinner is provided and programming starts at 4:00 PM and finishes at 5:30 PM.  Transportation may be available.

Fun-Filled Summer Day Camp

At The Salvation Army, we believe that every child deserves to experience the magic of the summer season.  We provide affordable summer day camp programming designed to maximize the opportunity for families that need it most.  Scholarships and discounts are available.  This isn’t your average summer child-care, our counselors work with each child to set and meet goals in areas such as academic performance, community building, and skill development.  The Salvation Army’s community connections ensure that our kids’ experience enrichment activities that are the best Yakima has to offer.

Residential Summer Camp Experience

The Salvation Army Camp Arnold located in Eatonville, WA offers week long summer camp experiences for kids ages 6-17 including music camps, teen wilderness camps, and other offerings.  Campfires, camp songs, and making life-long friends and memories are experiences that should be available to every child in a safe and caring setting. Sessions typically run Monday through Friday. Scholarships and transportation are available.

Children’s Music & Arts Programs

We work to provide music and arts programs that many schools can no longer afford. From choirs to instrument training, poetry to painting, drama to dance, after-school lessons and activities help introduce children to the beauties of the fine arts.
