Community Assistance Center

Helping meet the emergency material and financial needs on the island of O'ahu.

About the Community Assistance Center

The Salvation Army Community Assistance Center provides emergency services, including food, clothing, hygiene kits, and case management to everyone who needs it —regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

For many, making ends meet is a daily challenge, forcing people to choose between paying their rent or putting food on the table. We understand the stress these situations put on families and are here to help.

We can provide critical, short-term rental and utility help to low-income families and individuals, aiding in the prevention of homelessness by bridging the gap between income and expenses.

Emergency Material Assistance

Material assistance is provided by the CAC out of Kauluwela Mission Corps at 296 N. Vineyard on Mondays from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Please note that the CAC does not have a physical office location that accepts visitors. Clothes vouchers are also available for use at The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Honolulu. If no other resources are available, these can be used to purchase clothes for work, job interviews, or professional meetings. Recipients must present a referral from a case manager or social worker to set up an appointment. Emergency clothing is available for immediate distribution pending inventory levels.

Financial Assistance

Pending available funding, the Community Assistance Center will accept up to 10 completed applications between the 1st and the 10th of each month, or whichever comes first. You can reach out via phone at (808) 841-5565 or email hicac@usw.salvationarmy.org to apply. If funding is available, you will be asked to submit a list of required documents for your application to be complete. A caseworker will then review your application to determine eligibility. Completion of the financial assistance application does not guarantee financial assistance.

Documents Required: Government-issued ID for all household adults, Social Security cards for all household members, lease agreement, utility bill, disconnection and eviction notice, income documentation and bank statements for the past two months, and benefits statements.

Pathway of Hope

The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope program was launched in 2011 to provide supportive services to families wanting to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and move toward stability. Its strength-based case management approach provides individualized services to families in crisis cycles, including unemployment, housing instability, and limited access to food, clothing, and educational resources.

Studies show children who spend more than half of their lives in poverty are 32 times more likely to live in poverty as an adult.

Pathway of Hope can move your family from crisis to stability through community collaboration, targeted services, and increased hope for generations to come.
