The Salvation Army West Womens and Children Center
For more than 30 years, The Salvation Army West Women's and Children's Shelter has been serving victims of domestic violence in the Portland area.
We provide immediate assistance to victims of domestic violence and put them on the path to independence at this 24-hour shelter specifically designed for women and children escaping domestic abuse.
The center provides everything from health referrals, counseling, and transportation to GED certification programs, parenting classes, employment assistance, and permanent housing placement. We also offer children a nurturing environment in a therapeutic preschool program. The location of the facility is kept private for the safety of our clients.
Services for Women
Women's Services include: food, shelter, clothing, Job search assistance, transportation assistance, tutoring for GED completion, safety planning, domestic Violence education, prevention and support groups, tenant education classes, financial wellness workshops
Services for Children
Children's Services include: Child care services, children's group and activities, child abuse prevention services, parenting support groups, prenatal support, educational support, parent child specialist, family stability advocate.
