When Fathers Find Connection and Understanding
A Father’s Day Story of Shared Experiences and Steady Support.
After years of navigating a difficult custody battle, Derek reached a breaking point and began looking for something he didn’t yet have: a community of support for fathers going through similar experiences.

That search led him to his local Salvation Army, where a new support group for single fathers began to take shape.
Today, the group brings together men navigating separation, divorce, co-parenting, and more. For many, these weekly conversations are the first time they’ve had a space to openly share what they are going through without judgment and with others who understand.
What has emerged is a sense of community among fathers who might otherwise feel alone in their circumstances. Within the group, they share advice, encouragement, and practical insight in order to learn from one another as they navigate complex family dynamics and work toward stability.
This kind of support reminds us that even in difficult circumstances, connection and understanding can create space for healing and growth.
And for many fathers, that makes all the difference.
