How We Help Fight for Justice

The Salvation Army is an integral part in the fight against human trafficking, providing comprehensive support and services to survivors at the local level. Recognizing the complex and devastating impact of this crime, The Salvation Army offers a holistic approach that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of survivors.

The LIGHT Project

The LIGHT Project’s mission is to combat human trafficking by providing empowering, trauma-informed services which will transform victims into survivors, and journeys of exploitation into lives freely lived.

Currently, The Salvation Army has 40 anti-human trafficking programs nationwide. In Western Pennsylvania, The LIGHT Project is designed to empower past and present victims to take back their independence.

The LIGHT Project is committed to serving individuals who have previously been or are currently a victim of human trafficking, and are currently residing within our 28-county service area in Western PA. For suspected cases of human trafficking, an assessment can be conducted by LIGHT Project staff to determine eligibility.

The LIGHT Project is proud to offer services to all victims regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or immigration status.

This program’s core purpose is to:

  • Develop community-based partnerships to ensure victims receive complete care
  • Provide comprehensive case management services
  • Spread awareness and intervention training for the community and other stakeholders
