Summit County Area Services Food Services Information
The Salvation Army is dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. Our local office operates community food pantries to provide nutritious food to individuals and families in need. We understand the challenges that food insecurity can pose in this area, and we're committed to providing a helping hand.
Our food pantries offer a variety of food items, including canned goods and nonperishable staples. Some even offer fresh produce. We work closely with local partners to ensure that we can provide a diverse selection of food to meet the unique needs of our community.
By providing access to nutritious food, we aim to improve the health and well-being of the neighbors we serve. We believe that everyone deserves to have access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

The Red Shield Food Distribution is a monthly, drive-thru distribution open to anyone in need.
Red Sield Food Distribution Akron
The Red Shield Food Distribution Akron is held every second Wednesday of the month (except December), between 9 am - 11 am, and is located at 1033 Bellows St, Akron, OH, 44311.
Red Sield Food Distribution Barberton
The Red Shield Food Distribution Barberton is held every fourth Friday of the month (except December), between 10 am - 1 pm, and is located at 560 W. Wooster Rd., Barberton, OH, 44203.
University of Akron Food Distribution
The University of Akron Food Distribution is held every fourth Thursday of the month (except November and December), between 11 am – 1 pm, and is located at 315 Buchtel Commons, Akron, OH, 44304 (turnabout by the Honors Dorms and Bierce Library). This is a walk-up distribution that is open to all University of Akron students and community members.

Our Akron Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday and is located at 1033 Bellows St, Akron, OH, 44311. Individuals and families can visit once a month and are asked to make an appointment. To make an appointment, please call the office at (330) 762-8481, between 9 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Our Barberton Food Pantry is open Tuesday through Friday and is located at 560 W. Wooster Rd., Barberton, OH, 44203. Individuals and families can visit once a month and are asked to make an appointment. To make an appointment, please call the office at (330) 745-2836, between 9 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
