The First Alert 6 - First Lady of Omaha - Salvation Army Food Drive is a collaborative effort between WOWT, First Lady of Omaha Dr. Viv Ewing, and The Salvation Army of Omaha.  Its goal is to generate a total of $50,000 – between both monetary and nonperishable-food donations – to support local Salvation Army food-assistance programs, which are experiencing extremely high levels of demand.

The drive will take place in two phases – first, an online phase between March 12 and March 26 in which people can donate by clicking here; and second, a drive-thru food-collection event on March 26, which will take place from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at both the NP Dodge Headquarters parking lot (8701 W. Dodge Rd.) and Brite Ideas Decorating (156th & Blondo).

The food items most needed are as follows:

  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned tuna
  • Canned chicken
  • Breakfast items (cold and hot cereals)
  • Boxed meals (Hamburger Helper)
  • Rice
  • Pasta

This effort will provide critically needed support for the individuals and families who come to The Salvation Army seeking help with basic needs.

Thank you for joining us in this community-wide effort to fight back against hunger.
