As Rockford University students prepared for a new academic year, The Salvation Army of Winnebago County helped ensure students living on campus had some of the essentials they needed to start the year strong.

The Salvation Army team recently distributed approximately 250 “Dorm Bites” boxes to students at Rockford University. Each box was filled with a variety of food and everyday essentials, including peanut butter and jelly, cereal bowls, shelf-stable milk, oatmeal, snacks, pretzels, an energy drink, bottled water and detergent. Students were also able to choose from an assortment of fresh bread.

The effort was about more than providing food. It was an opportunity to support local young adults as they pursue their education and take important steps toward their future.

At The Salvation Army, we believe investing in young people strengthens the entire community. Having access to basic necessities can help students focus more fully on their education, their goals and the opportunities ahead.

Efforts like Dorm Bites are made possible through the generosity of donors and supporters throughout the community. Their continued support allows The Salvation Army to meet people where they are and provide practical assistance when it is needed.
