The Salvation Army Kicks Off Red Kettle Season at Stroll on State
The Salvation Army of Winnebago County proudly participated in Rockford’s annual Stroll on State on November 29, 2025, marking the official kickoff of our Christmas season and our annual Red Kettle Campaign. This year’s campaign is centered on the theme Give With Joy, a reminder of the hope and joy that generosity brings to both those who give and those who receive.
Despite a forecast calling for more than eight inches of snow, our team did not let the weather stop us from marching in the parade and celebrating this beloved community tradition. Our float featured a giant Red Kettle, generously constructed by 425 Manufacturing, Inc. and Ingersoll Machine Tools.

The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser of the year. With 22 percent of residents in Rockford living in poverty, the need for support is significant and donations are more critical than ever. Funds raised through the campaign stay local and help provide essential services, including our Emergency Food Pantry, Pathway of Hope program, emergency assistance, holiday support, and more.
As the season continues, we invite the community to be part of this effort. Donations can be made online at RockfordRedKettle.org, and volunteer bell ringers are needed throughout the season. Individuals and groups can sign up to ring at RegistertoRing.com.

Whether through a gift, a few hours of time, or simply sharing the message, every act of generosity makes a difference. Together, our community can truly Give With Joy and help ensure hope is within reach for our neighbors this Christmas season.
