What is the William Booth Society?

The William Booth Society honors individuals and organizations whose extraordinary generosity supports the mission of The Salvation Army with an annual gift of $5,000 or more.

Named after our founder, General William Booth, this society recognizes those who help us Do The Most Good—by funding life-saving social services and basic human needs such as shelter, meals, disaster relief, addiction recovery, and so much more.

Your leadership gift becomes a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable in our community.

What are the William Booth Society levels of giving?

Each level of support creates meaningful change—and we are honored to recognize your compassion.

The William Booth Society Circle - $5,000 to $9,999

  • Each year when your cumulative giving reaches $5,000 or more your participation in WBS is renewed. Large, transformational gifts are duly recognized through inclusion in the following Circle of The William Booth Society.
  • For $5,000, you can provide 30 nights of shelter for a couple in a safe space, with a warm bed.

The George Scott Railton Circle - $10,000 to $24,999

  • Commissioner George Scott Railton and seven Lassies "invaded" New York in 1880 to launch the first work of The Salvation Army in the United States.
  • For $10,000, you can provide 2,000 nutritious meals to our food insecure neighbors.

The Evangeline Booth Circle - $25,000 to $49,999

  • Evangeline Booth, the dynamic daughter of William and Catherine, served as Commander of The Salvation Army in the United States, 1904-1933, and was elected the first woman General in 1934.
  • For $25,000, you can provide 50 children the opportunity to attend Camp Mihaska for 5 days and explore the great outdoors.

The Catherine Mumford Booth Circle - $50,000 to $99,999

  • Co-founder of The Salvation Army, a fighter for women's rights and moral crusader, the wife of William Booth became one of the most influential women in modern religious history.
  • For $50,000, you can provide emergency kits to 200 families in the face of a major disaster or storms that threaten to take away everything they own.

The Founder's Circle - $100,000 and above

  • William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army turned the world's attention to the plight of the poor and changed the direction of Christianity.
  • For $100,000, you can provide comprehensive services to survivors of human trafficking at our drop-in center for over 6 months.

Your Gift in Action

By joining the William Booth Society, you are standing with a distinguished group of donors who are committed to transforming lives. Your gift does the most good for those who need us the most.

Ninety cents of every dollar given to The Salvation Army goes directly to services. And, dollars donated in your community are invested directly back into that community, or as you designate otherwise.

Your gift to the William Booth Society supports local programs, including:

  • Transitional and permanent housing
  • Food pantries and community meals
  • Emergency disaster services
  • Youth development and mentoring
  • Senior services and community building
  • Substance use and addiction recovery
  • Pathways to employment and financial stability
  • Stability and empowerment for those in trafficking situations

Donors may choose to fund their gift to the William Booth  Society through:

  • Stock or Securities Transfer
  • Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
  • IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
  • ETF/ACH direct deposit
  • Check or Cash
  • Missouri Tax Credits
