The Salvation Army of Lafayette is excited to announce a special match that will take place at all Red Kettles starting on Friday, December 19 and running through Christmas Eve, the final day of the annual Red Kettle Campaign. Thanks to the combined effort of several anonymous local donors and the Scheumann Foundation, up to $63,000 is available to be unlocked as part of the match challenge, but The Salvation Army will need the public's help to make the most of this incredible opportunity.

As part of the "$20 Bill Challenge", all $20 bills will be matched 5-to-1, turning a $20 donation into $100. All other donations, from $100 bills to pennies, will still be matched 1-to-1, doubling the impact of even the humblest of gifts. The $20 Bill Challenge has grown from $50,000 in 2024 to $63,000 in 2025, reflecting both a growth in donor generosity and an increase in the need for services provided by The Salvation Army.

"Thanks to the generous gifts of the Scheumann Foundation and several anonymous donors, The Salvation Army of Greater Lafayette has the opportunity to turn 630 twenty-dollar bills into $63,000 to help meet the needs of our community throughout the year," said Major Marlys Anderson of The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps"These funds are especially crucial this year as our bell ringing totals to date have been adversely impacted by the colder weather and snow.  But with your help, and the help of our matching funds, we are confident we can still reach our goal."

Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Hobby Lobby, and near JCPenney and Kohl’s at the Tippecanoe Mall. Volunteer bell ringers are still needed to man every kettle through Christmas Eve. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this week is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.

Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given. Visit SALafayette.org to learn more about how you can help The Salvation Army spread joy across the Tippecanoe County community in 2026.
