“This Radiothon is more than a broadcast — it’s a lifeline,” said Major Dawn Worthy, metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division. “Every dollar raised helps ensure our Bed & Bread trucks can continue serving thousands of meals and providing shelter, warmth and dignity to our neighbors who need it most. The generosity of this community allows us to show up every single day, no matter the weather.”
This year marks the 15th year that 760 WJR has partnered with The Salvation Army to host the Bed & Bread Club Radiothon.
“For 15 years, WJR listeners have proven time and again that they care deeply about their community,” said Steve Finatari, regional vice president and market manager for 760 WJR. “The Bed & Bread Club Radiothon is a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together — real, immediate impact for people facing hunger and homelessness right here in metro Detroit.”
The Bed & Bread Club Radiothon is the primary source of funding for The Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread program, which provides food and shelter to individuals and families in need throughout metro Detroit — 365 days a year. The program serves more than 4,500 meals every day to those experiencing food insecurity, as well as provides nearly 200 nights of shelter to individuals without a safe place to stay. Bed & Bread trucks operate year-round, making designated stops throughout the city to deliver hot meals and distribute essential items such as hats, gloves, coats and blankets.
The community can support the Bed & Bread Club Radiothon by:
Donors who contribute $120 or more will join the “Club That’s Here for Good” and those who donate $240 or more will receive a special thank-you gift – a vehicle first aid kit designed to offer care when it’s needed most.
Since its inception, the Bed & Bread Club Radiothon has raised $46,076,957 over its 38-year history, providing vital support to Detroiters facing hunger and homelessness.
