Metro Detroit Stamp Out Hunger
Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Unites Communities to Fight Food Insecurity
On Saturday, May 9, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host its annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive—the country's largest one-day food collection.
Since its launch in 1993, this nationwide initiative has helped deliver tens of millions of pounds of food to those in need. With more than 34 million Americans facing food insecurity, these donations are crucial to supporting local food banks and organizations such as The Salvation Army.
The concept is simple yet powerful: letter carriers distribute bags for residents to fill with nonperishable food. On the designated day, residents leave the filled bags by their mailboxes, and letter carriers collect and deliver the donations to nearby food banks.
More than a food drive, Stamp Out Hunger unites communities around a shared purpose—to assist families facing hunger and hardship. It serves as a reminder that small actions, when amplified across neighborhoods, can have a meaningful impact.
In Metro Detroit, donations will be distributed to the following corps community centers:
· Dearborn Heights
· Downriver
· Farmington Hills
· Plymouth
· Royal Oak
· Warren
Make sure to leave your bag filled with nonperishable food on your portch this Saturday, May 9!
