The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit Encourages the Community to Give Generously This Giving Tuesday
All digital donations made on Tuesday, Dec. 2 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to an anonymous donor
The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is calling on the community to Give With Joy this Giving Tuesday. All digital donations made to The Salvation Army in Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 2 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to an anonymous donor. That means every online gift – no matter the size – will go twice as far in providing food, shelter, Christmas gifts and other critical social services to families and individuals in need.

Supporters can participate in the match by donating online at SAmetrodetroit.org or through Kettle Pay at any of The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles. Every digital donation made on Giving Tuesday will automatically be doubled until the $25,000 statewide match is met.

“Giving Tuesday is one of the most impactful days of the year for our mission,” said Major Dawn Worthy, metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division. “As inflation, rising costs and ongoing economic challenges continue to affect households across southeast Michigan, The Salvation Army’s services remain in high demand. This match will allow donors to stretch their dollars even further and help us reach even more families struggling to makes ends meet.”

Last year, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit provided:
All Giving Tuesday contributions will go towards The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit’s 2025 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign goal of $7.1 million. Donations are tax-deductible and remain in the community to support metro Detroit families.
