About the event

Join The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit on Friday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. in Cadillac Square as we officially kickoff the 2026 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign.

Held in conjunction with the City of Detroit's annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration, The Salvation Army will illuminate the iconic World's Tallest Red Kettle immediately before the city's Christmas tree is lit.

Standing an impressive 56 feet tall and 24 feet wide, with more than 26,000 LED lights, the World's Tallest Red Kettle serves as a beacon of hope for those in need throughout Metro Detroit.

Come celebrate the joy of the season as two beloved Detroit holiday traditions light up downtown and inspire our community to Give with Joy.
