Court-Mandated Volunteer Opportunities
We are here to help you complete your court-mandated community service hours! If you’re looking for one place to complete your required hours, and you need a letter of verification to show someone—you’re in the right place.
Please note that prior to signing up for a specific shift, you must complete the appropriate credentials. To do so, please review the next section.
Getting Started is Easy
To get started, you’ll need to get credentialed. Please click your location below and follow the prompts to create a profile within our Volunteer Management System. Once you’ve completed the profile you’ll be prompted to complete our credentials. Upon completion you’re local team will guide you on how to sign up for an opportunity. Within your profile you will also be able to print your certificate of completion.
Find a Volunteer Opportunity
Once you have completed all the credentials and additional required form, you may begin searching for an opportunity.
Quickly view approved opportunities for court-mandated volunteers by visiting our Volunteer Opportunities portal and selecting the Court-Mandated Opportunities filter. You will only be eligible for opportunities with this tag.
From virtual opportunities to food pantry assistance, The Salvation Army has many opportunities for court-mandated volunteers to participate in. Sign up for as many projects as you need and will commit to attend to complete your service requirement. If anything additional is needed before your shift, a staff member may contact you.
Your Serving Opportunity
You’re now ready to get out and serve the community! Whether you’re dialing in from Zoom or driving up to an in-person event, there are a few things to keep in mind.
- First, remember to double check that you’re arriving for your project at the right date and time that you registered for. Many opportunities have multiple time slots, and we want to make sure you’re here for the right one! You’ll get a confirmation email with all these details, or you can find them in your Account at any time by signing in and clicking on “My Opportunities” then “Upcoming.”
- Be sure that you sign in and sign out during the opportunity because without signing in, we cannot verify your hours. Having your hours verified is required for receiving a letter.
- The last thing to do when serving is to have fun! Take advantage of the opportunity to do something good, meet other people, and gain a better understanding of the challenges facing our community
Reporting Your Hours
Be sure to schedule and complete your service at least 2 weeks before the letter to validate your service is due. This will ensure that there is time for hours to be verified in the system, and your letter to be available. Be aware that your hours may not be reflected in your account immediately when the project ends and there can be a delay as our staff is verifying hours.
- Download Your Own Letter: After verified, your letter will be available for download in your account. It’ll be listed as your “Certificate.” Simply log in to your account on the volunteer portal, then select My Opportunities. From there, select “Certificate and History” on the left side, and click “Download Certificate.” The file will be saved to your device as a PDF, and you can print or share it with anyone you need to. Find more detailed instructions here.
- The Salvation Army can only confirm your verified hours of service. We understand that it can be frustrating to wait for hours to be verified, especially if you need them quickly. Please know that it can takes between 5 and 7 business days for volunteer hours to be verified. If your hours are not verified within that time frame, please reach out to the location where you completed your hours of service.
