Our Mission Statement.
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army's Hilo Temple Corps Community Center serves the people of Hawaii residing on the eastern side of the Big Island of Hawai'i. In addition to Hilo Corps' function as a church, it provides emergency assistance to families needing help including food, emergency services and clothing vouchers. It also provides seasonal assistance to families for their special needs during the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the essential back-to-school needs of children. The Hilo Temple Corps offers character building programs, Christian education, community recreation programs, day care, music & arts programs, women ministries, and worship services.
