KOLKATA, India — The Women Leadership Development Seminar was held from 11 to 12 May 2026 at the Red Shield Guest House in Kolkata, bringing together delegates for two days of spiritual reflection, leadership training and ministry-focused learning.
The seminar opened with a devotional session led by Colonel Sunita Christian, National Secretary for Women Development at the India National Office. Delegates also warmly welcomed the Territorial and National leaders, setting a spirit of fellowship and shared purpose for the programme.
In the first teaching session, Commissioner Vanlalfela, Territorial Commander, spoke on the effective organisation of Home League meetings. He encouraged delegates to ensure careful consultation with officers and thoughtful preparation before conducting meetings.
Commissioner Ropari led a session on the Least Coin Fellowship and Helping Hand initiatives, highlighting their continued importance in strengthening women’s ministry and encouraging practical participation in mission work.
Lieutenant Colonel Goldi (THLS) outlined the role of the Junior and Senior Home League as two important wings of the Home League ministry. She explained the purpose of meetings for both groups and encouraged leaders to make these gatherings meaningful, inclusive and well structured.
The afternoon session was led by Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Manjula, Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, who spoke on the qualities of a good woman leader. Her session focused on the character, commitment and skills needed to grow as effective leaders in ministry and community life.
Major Aruna Ghose also conducted a thought-provoking session on modern slavery and human trafficking, raising awareness of the issue as a serious global concern and encouraging delegates to remain informed, alert and responsive.
On the second day, Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Manjula led the devotional session, encouraging delegates through a reflection on the story of Goliath. She reminded participants that, although ministry presents many challenges, they can be confronted and overcome with faith. The Bible study was shared by Commissioner Ropari, TPWM.
In the final session, Commissioner Vanlalfela underlined the importance of every meeting and the value of careful preparation. He encouraged delegates to build healthy relationships, plan creatively and ensure that each gathering remains purposeful and relevant to the growth of the ministry.
Throughout the seminar, delegates were given opportunities to ask questions and engage directly with the leaders. The interactive sessions were well received, and participants expressed their commitment to applying the learning in their respective ministries.
