Community invited to donate gently used items or volunteer August 5-8 to help support local families in need

Mississippi Gulf Coast (July 27, 2026) — Treasure Bay Casino & Hotel and The Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast are partnering to host a community-wide Clothing Drive from August 5-8, inviting residents to donate gently used items and volunteer to support local families in need.

A staffed donation drop-off site will be available daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the south parking lot of Treasure Bay Casino. Community members are encouraged to donate gently used, clean clothing, shoes, furniture, home goods, and household items.

All donations collected during the drive will support The Salvation Army Family Store on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Proceeds from store sales directly fund local social service programs that assist individuals and families facing hardship. In addition, The Salvation Army's Social Services office regularly provides vouchers that allow individuals and families in crisis to obtain clothing, furniture, and household essentials at no cost. These vouchers help people prepare for job interviews, begin new careers, furnish a home, and meet other critical needs as they work toward stability.

“Every item donated has the potential to change a life,” said Major Paul Egan, Area Commander for The Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast. “Donations help fund our local programs and services, while also providing much-needed clothing, furniture, and household goods to individuals and families through our voucher assistance program. Whether someone is preparing for a job interview, moving into stable housing, or rebuilding after a crisis, these donations help make that possible.”

“This clothing drive reflects our continued commitment to supporting our community and strengthening local partnerships,” said Susan Varnes, Treasure Bay President and COO. “We are proud to support The Salvation Army’s mission of serving individuals and families in need and are grateful to our team, guests, and community members whose generosity will provide clothing, comfort, and hope to those facing difficult circumstances. Every donation helps strengthen the Gulf Coast community we are proud to call home.”

Community members are also invited to volunteer during the four-day donation drive. Volunteers will assist with greeting donors, unloading vehicles, sorting donations, and helping create a welcoming experience for those giving back to their community.
