There’s a Place for You: Young Adults at Bible Conference

For generations, Bible Conference has been a place where Salvationists from across the Southern Territory gather to worship, study God’s Word, and pursue a deeper life of holiness. It has long been a treasured week for families, officers, soldiers, and friends where all have a chance to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend intentional time with the Lord.

Over the last few years, we’ve been excited to see something else growing at Bible Conference: a thriving community of young adults!

While young adults still participate in the main worship sessions and Bible teaching alongside the rest of the conference, we’ve created intentional spaces throughout the week just for them. Twice during the conference, we gather for Bible study and small groups, where we unpack the messages from the main sessions and explore what they look like in the everyday lives of young adults. These conversations create space for honest questions, encouragement, and friendships that continue long after Bible Conference ends.

Of course, it’s not all serious discussion! Community is a vital part of discipleship, so we’ve also made room for plenty of fun. Whether it’s gathering around the fire pit for a s’mores night or packing into the territorial youth secretary’s house for our annual house party, these moments have become favorites. Last year’s turnout was so incredible that nearly 75 young adults showed up for the evening events — and yes, there were so many cars lining the street that the police may have stopped by to help with traffic! Thankfully, everyone was safe, and it became one more memorable story to add to the week.

Throughout last year’s conference, nearly 40 young adults participated in our Bible studies and small groups, demonstrating a growing desire for authentic community and meaningful conversations centered on scripture. It has been encouraging to watch young adults build relationships across divisional lines, pray for one another, and discover they’re not walking their faith journey alone.

Our hope is simple: that every young adult knows Bible Conference is for them, too.
