The Salvation Army Wausau Corps Welcomes New Corps Officers

The Salvation Army Wausau Corps is pleased to welcome Captains Derek and Heather Jungas, its new Corps Officers. With a unique blend of ministry experience, international service, and a passion for community engagement, the Jungs are excited to begin their ministry in North Central Wisconsin and serve Marathon County.

Captain Derek Jung earned his Master of Divinity (M. Div.) from Seoul Theological Seminary in South Korea and served in pastoral ministry for ten years. Captain Heather Jung studied fashion design in South Korea before joining Derek in a life dedicated to ministry and service. Together, they served as missionaries in China for approximately five years and experienced Christian Community living in both the United Kingdom and the United States for another 5 years before discovering The Salvation Army in the United States. 

After answering God's call to officership, Captains Derek and Heather Jung graduated from The Salvation Army's College of Officer Training ( CFOT) in the USA Central Territory. Their previous appointments included service at the Maplewood Corps in St. Louis, Missouri, and Ladewood Corps in Maplewood, Minnesota.  Following three years of overseas service, they have now been appointed to lead The Salvation Army Wausau Corps.

" We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Wausau community," said Captain Jung. " We look forward to building relationships, sharing God's love, and working alongside community partners, volunteers, donors, and staff to meet the needs of our neighbors."

As Corps Officers, Captains Jung will provide both spiritual and administrative leadership for The Salvation Army's worship services, community outreach programs, youth ministries, emergency assistance, disaster response efforts, and seasonal assistance programs. Their diverse experiences in ministry and cross- cultural service have prepared them to compassionately serve individuals and families from all walks of life. 

The Salvation Army Wausau Corps Warmly welcomes Captains Derek and Heather Jung and their family to the community and looks forward to the leadership, compassion, and vision they will bring as they continue The Salvation Army's mission of meeting human needs in His name without discrimination.
