The Salvation Army to Host Annual Thanksgiving Festival on Wednesday
The Salvation Army of Evansville is celebrating gratitude on Wednesday, November 26 at its Thanksgiving Festival. Between 800 and 1,000 men, women, and children in need are expected to come enjoy a hot Thanksgiving meal at The Salvation Army at this fun annual event.
The Thanksgiving Festival, an Evansville tradition for more than a decade, is open to the public and designed to serve those who may otherwise not be able to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with loved ones.
The meal will be served between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army’s corps community center, which is located at 1040 N Fulton Avenue, Evansville, IN. Diners can expect smoked turkey, traditional sides, and plenty of pies and other desserts to top off the meal.
"As we gather for this year’s Thanksgiving Festival, I am reminded that the greatest joy comes from time spent with family, friends, and our wider community," said Captain Brandon Lewis with The Salvation Army. "This celebration is not only about gratitude for what we have, but also about sharing that gratitude with others. We are so excited for a day filled with togetherness, tradition, and the simple joy of being connected!”
In addition to receiving a hot meal, diners will enjoy live music and the opportunity to win some fun door prizes during the two-hour event. The Salvation Army will also hand out several hundred winter coats to those still in need of protection against the chilly months ahead. Coats were collected and cleaned this fall by Don's Dry Cleaning & Laundry through the Coat-A-Kid program.
