The Salvation Army to Hold Toy Drive on December 5
For struggling households, the holidays can be a stressful time. Thanks to The Salvation Army's Christmas assistance programs, children are still able to experience the joy of opening special gifts on Christmas morning. On December 5 shoppers at the Walmart store on the west side of Evansville will have a chance to purchase and donate toys in support of The Salvation Army of Evansville's Toy Shop program, which serves 1,200 local families every Christmas.

"As we look ahead to our 2025 Toy Town collection, The Salvation Army is honored to serve 4,000 children – representing 1,200 families – with toys, warm coats, and a Christmas meal," said Captain Brandon Lewis with The Salvation Army. "This season is about hope, community, and love, and on December 5 we invite all of southwest Indiana to join us in making Christmas brighter for every family we serve."
The Salvation Army's Toy Town program serves families living in Vanderburg and Warrick counties. Each fall, parents sign up to receive Christmas assistance for their children aged 0-18. Generous donations from the community and local businesses make it possible to provide a Toy Town shopping experience for parents where they can choose the perfect gifts for each of their children.
Anyone not able to attend the Toy Drive on December 5 can still support Toy Town a number of ways:
-
Shop the online Walmart Registry and have toys shipped straight to The Salvation Army
