The Salvation Army’s Four Portland Metro Food Pantries to Receive Semitruck Trailer Filled With Food From The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, Sept. 24

(Portland, OR) – Tomorrow – Thursday, Sept. 24 at 8 a.m., The Salvation Army Bridgeway of Hope will receive 20-24 pallets of shelf-stable food delivered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Bridgeway of Hope is located at 6655 NE 82nd Ave. in Portland.

The Salvation Army Portland Metro Coordinator Major Harold Laubach said this major donation comes just in time, as food insecurity has continued to rise and the four Salvation Army food pantries have seen a significant increase in individuals and families seeking assistance – some for the first time.

“We are beyond grateful to partner with organizations like the LDS to combat hunger and need,” Major Laubach said. “The Salvation Army in Portland aims to be a focal point of generosity where people, organizations, and businesses with a common desire to elevate households, express dignity, and care for the most vulnerable, partner for the greatest impact for our neighbors in need.”

The Salvation Army provided 59,415 meals and snacks in the Portland Metro area during its fiscal year 2025 (Oct. 1, 2024-Sept. 30, 2025).
