The Salvation Army of Petoskey Celebrates 125 Years with “Christmas in July” Red Kettle Campaign

The Salvation Army of Petoskey will host its annual Christmas in July Red Kettle Campaign on Friday, July 10, with bell ringers stationed at locations across the region from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The one-day fundraising effort raises critical support while reminding the community that the need for assistance extends far beyond the holiday season.

Community partners are once again stepping up to support the cause. The Central Lake Lion’s Club will ring bells at Merrie’s Market and Eastport Market, while the Elk Rapids Rotary Club will be stationed at the Village Market in Elk Rapids. Additional Red Kettle locations throughout Northern Michigan include:

  • Elk Rapids: Village Market
  • Central Lake: Merrie’s Market
  • Eastport: Eastport Market
  • Petoskey & Charlevoix: Oleson’s Food Stores
  • Petoskey: Louie’s Fresh Market
  • Petoskey: Walmart
  • Harbor Springs: Harbor Springs Market

This year’s campaign holds special significance, as The Salvation Army of Petoskey (Petoskey Corps) celebrates its 125th anniversary of service to the community.

“Christmas in July is not only an opportunity to give—it’s a reminder that families in our community need help all year long,” said Major Brian Reed. “With the rising cost of food and essential household expenses, we are seeing a record number of individuals and families seeking assistance. The increased need is coming at a time when donations are declining, creating a unsustainable deficit that may eventually result in many families going without critical needs.”

Funds raised through the Red Kettle Campaign support vital services including emergency assistance for heat, food, rent, and utilities, child programs, senior programs and more. The Salvation Army of Petoskey serves all Emmet, Charlevoix and Antrim County residents without discrimination.

Community members can support the campaign by donating at Red Kettle locations, giving online at SAPetoskey.org, or mailing contributions to:

Donations can also be made by supporting The Salvation Army Thrift Store, located at 1615 Clarion Avenue in Petoskey. Proceeds directly benefit local programs and services.
