FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Salvation Army across Lake and Porter Counties has been responding to the June 11, 2026, Tornado disasters that have hit throughout the region. Our Emergency Disaster Service Truck was out at Merrillville handing out water and snacks. Employees from the Porter County offices responded to northern Portage and Lake Station mobile homes such as Lakeshore Camp Resort. Due to the massive power outages, homes with fridges are experiencing food spoilage quickly. In these efforts The Salvation Army provided water, sandwiches, and bread serving 45 individuals and 15 families from trailer parks and campsites. Further Stats are coming in and will be reported once numbers have been finalized.
The Salvation Army will be attending any calls that come into our offices regarding people who are estranged from their homes, as many individuals and families may need to find housing options and temporary housing options. Please reach out to your nearest Salvation Army so we can better help you.
Please support our efforts by donating to help provide meals and find housing for families affected by the storm.
