Wadsworth, OH (July 7, 2025) The Salvation Army in Wadsworth, Ohio, located at 527 College Street, broke ground today on a new facility that will nearly double its current space to better serve the local community. The new facility will also offer increased community space to address human needs, a larger Chapel for worship, and on-site areas for Education and Outreach programs.

“Since 1886, The Salvation Army in Wadsworth has been dedicated to serving the community. The expansion will enable us to serve a broader range of people, ensuring we meet the needs of Wadsworth residents,” says Envoy Ashley Smith, Corps Commanding Officer in The Salvation Army in Wadsworth, OH.

The new building will include a larger community room and food service area. It will feature a new learning center for local youth, a larger kitchen for food programs, and additional parking.

“This new building will help us to educate children with after-school resources, provide hundreds of community members with meals, and open up a new community resource to all residents in the Wadsworth community to feel welcomed, loved, and enriched with wrap-around holistic support,” continued Smith.

The Salvation Army in Wadsworth has been working tirelessly on the “Building a Better Wadsworth” campaign to raise funds necessary for this project. To date, the campaign has reached over 75% of its goal.

“We have been blessed by the support the 'Build a Better Wadsworth' campaign has received. The building is now coming to fruition and will be a beacon of hope for so many throughout our area,” finished Envoy Smith.
