The Salvation Army Centers of Hope Seek Thanksgiving Donations for Gulf Coast Families in Need
GULFPORT, Miss. (October 23, 2026) - The Salvation Army Centers of Hope in Gulfport and Pascagoula are calling on the generosity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast community to help provide Thanksgiving meal kits to existing clients, families that are currently being served through current programs. The organization is collecting donations of whole turkeys and traditional holiday fixings to assemble complete meal kits for distribution.
The Salvation Army will give out only what the community donates, making every contribution a direct, meaningful gift. Meal kits will be distributed on November 18 and 19, 2026, to clients visiting the Gulfport and Pascagoula Centers of Hope.
“Food insecurity affects far too many families on our Gulf Coast, and the Thanksgiving season can be an especially difficult time when parents worry about providing a special meal for their families. The gift of cooking side by side, sharing a table, and creating memories that will last a lifetime is something every family deserves. Our donors make that possible, allowing the families we serve to celebrate Thanksgiving in the comfort and dignity of their own homes — without having to visit a food bank on a holiday.” said Major Paul Egan, Area Commander.
