The Salvation Army announces the appointment of Majors Timothy and Constance Higgins

Bellaire, Ohio – (June 30th, 2025): The Salvation Army in Northeast Ohio has appointed new leadership to The Salvation Army in Bellaire, located at 315 37th St. in Bellaire. Major Timothy (Tim) and his wife Major Constance (Connie) Higgins are the new commanding officers at the Bellaire Corps Community Center and Family Shelter, as of June 25th, 2025.

“My wife and I are excited for this new adventure in Belmont County. We want to provide hope, support, and the love of Jesus to all who come into the Corps building and the family shelter. We want to ensure all who come to us for help leave in a better situation,” stated Major Timothy Higgins, Commanding Officer at The Salvation Army’s Bellaire Corps Community Center.

Majors Higgins have nearly 40 years of ministry experience with The Salvation Army and are familiar with Ohio, having recently served in Wooster, OH, and Newark, OH, overseeing and managing large family shelters in rural communities. Their extensive experience is a testament to their capabilities and commitment to the community. They have also served in Syracuse, NY; Hartford, CT; Athens, OH; Findlay, OH; and two other communities around the Columbus, OH area.

“We cannot wait to start working with the local community and community partners to see how we can best serve in Belmont County,” continued Major Tim Higgins.

Majors Higgins also has two adult children, Edward and Alexandra, who, along with their spouses, live in the Columbus area, as well as three grandchildren- Henry, age 7, Margot, age 3, and Calvin, age 1.

The Salvation Army in Bellaire offers a comprehensive range of services to the community, including an emergency family shelter, utility assistance, produce and meat distributions, food pantry, hot meals, and Christmas assistance programs. These services are designed to provide immediate relief and long-term support to those in need.
