Southern Territory to Celebrate International Impact at Centennial Celebration

The Salvation Army’s USA Southern Territory is approaching the significant milestone of 100 years of official service. To mark the occasion, the territory will honor the anniversary with a Centennial Celebration, “ALL FOR JESUS,” set for June 4-6, 2027, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. While the event will be filled with a multitude of activities and gatherings, the Centennial also serves as something of a reminder and celebration of the Southern Territory’s widespread international impact since its official incorporation in the state of Georgia nearly 100 years ago.
Throughout its history, the Southern Territory has maintained fruitful and significant relationships with countries around the world. Presently, each division in the territory has official partners, including Angola (Arkansas- Oklahoma and Evangeline Booth College), Ukraine (Alabama-Louisiana-Mississippi), Republic of Georgia & Bulgaria (Florida), Moldova (Georgia), Romania (Kentucky-Tennessee), Italy & Greece (North & South Carolina), India West (Potomac), Taiwan (Texas), and Uganda (Potomac and Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command).
In addition, the Southern Territory maintains active partnerships with both South Africa and Mexico. It was announced at Commissioning 2026 that the Southern Territory’s World Services Ingathering raised approximately $11 million over the previous calendar year. That substantial financial investment helps to support vital projects and overarching ministries around the world, including everything from children’s homes in Mexico, camp programs in Moldova, women’s ministries in the Republic of Georgia, and family support initiatives in Greece.
More than 100 invited guests from territories around the world will join Southern Salvationists at the Centennial Celebration, which will lend a significant international flavor — an intentional decision meant to celebrate these meaningful partnerships over the last century.
“The global impact of this territory is not small,” says Territorial Commander Commissioner Kelly Igleheart. “And we need to make sure that we include that element in the weekend. One of the best ways to do that is to invite representatives from those countries and territories that we have partnered with.” This is set to include a group of dancers from the Mexico Territory, a songster group from the Southern African Territory, and the Angola National Band of The Salvation Army.
As part of the Centennial Celebration, Commissioner Igleheart says the territory will focus on “a recommitment to our covenant, a recommitment to mission, and recommitting to our relationship with Christ.” This focus extends to our brothers and sisters around the world, as The Salvation Army continues its mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
