Social Service Programming

 

 The Salvation Army of Genesee County-Downtown Location (211 W. Kearsley St.)

If you are a Genesee County resident experiencing a crisis, The Salvation Army may help and/or guide with not only the emergency at hand but also support and help with managing resources in the future. 

Available services include:

  • Energy Assistance for Consumers (electric and gas), propane, and fuel oil. Please call 810-232-2196 between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM. This funding is part of the Michigan Emergency Assistance Program (MEAP).
  • The Bottom-Line Diaper Program- Children 3 and under can receive 50 diapers and baby wipes each month.
  • Pantry of Hope- The emergency food pantry is designed to assist those with an immediate food crisis for a short period of time and to provide referrals to ongoing food distribution programs.
  • Christmas Assistance: Coats and toys for children under 18 and Food Boxes for families in Genesee County
  • Bus Passes- Support for those needing help getting to a job interview and those who secure new employment to get through until they get their first paycheck. (Verification required)
  • Information & Referrals to Community Resources. Agencies work together in Genesee County. If you are looking for a service we do not provide, we can refer you to one of our partnering agencies.

We would love to be able to help with every crisis; unfortunately, we do not have funds to financially help with rent, water, or property taxes. Please reach out to 211 for additional resources.

  • Seasonal Event (Free Thanksgiving Community Dinner at the L.I.F.E. Center)
