The Salt Lake City Corps has restructured its food pantry into a “client choice” model.

The change enables individuals to select their own food, much like a grocery store. Unlike pre-packaged food boxes which provide clients with no ability to select the items included, the community choice pantry will allow individuals the ability to choose from a wide variety of foods, better enabling persons to meet their personal dietary needs.

Other advantages include:

  • A sense of dignity for participants and their families
  • Higher satisfaction with the food they are able to choose
  • Less waste and ultimately less cost of food provided
  • Greater opportunities for volunteers and participants to interact; more social, supportive relationship opportunities

Salt Lake Corps Pantry Hours are Tuesday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm which is catered to seniors and Wednesdays & Fridays 2:00 to 4:00 pm for the general public. In addition, hot meals are served Monday through Friday at 1:00 pm until food runs out. Donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome.
