ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Sheetz, Inc., has been selected to receive The Salvation Army’s highest national honor—the Evangeline Booth Award—in recognition of its program Sheetz For the Kidz and the enduring commitment to uplifting children and families in need.

Named for the Army’s first female General and National Commander, the award reflects Booth’s legacy of tirelessly serving the less fortunate, establishing vital community programs, and spreading the Gospel. It is bestowed upon organizations and individuals whose compassion, generosity, and commitment to community mirror that same enduring spirit.

The award was presented at The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The honor represents a profound recognition of their decades-long dedication to supporting children and families. It affirms Sheetz’s belief in lifting its communities—not through just business, but by putting people first and investing in the next generation.

Since 1992, Sheetz Inc. has partnered with The Salvation Army through its Sheetz For the Kidz™ program, bringing holiday joy to children and families while addressing both immediate and long-term needs. Each year, the program provides toys, clothing, and essential items to thousands of children nationwide, helping ensure every child can experience a brighter holiday season.

In the first year of the partnership, Sheetz For the Kidz raised $12,000 and gave 126 children the opportunity to shop for toys, clothing, and essential items. Fast forward to 2025, and the partnership now spans three Salvation Army territories and engages more than 800 Sheetz convenience stores and their employees. In the past six years alone, Sheetz has helped over 64,000 children experience a brighter Christmas by donating more than $12 million.

“The Sheetz For the Kidz Holiday Program is a demonstration of love in action,” said Commissioner Merle Heatwole, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “Their commitment to bring joy to families in crisis reflects the very heart of our mission. We are grateful for their partnership and the hope they bring to communities year after year.”

This impactful collaboration helps The Salvation Army provide holiday assistance to nearly 2.5 million people annually, including one million children, ensuring families can celebrate the season while receiving meaningful support.

“Our proud partnership with The Salvation Army goes far beyond toys and clothing. For the past 33 years, we’ve seen the real relief this program has brought to families in need, and we’re honored to continue supporting children in our communities each holiday season,” said Brittany Funcheon, Executive Director of Sheetz For the Kidz. “We are humbled by the outpouring of support from our customers, employees, and business partners, which allows us to reach even more kids each year.”

As the nation’s largest private provider of social services, The Salvation Army operates nearly 7,400 centers across the country and is active in nearly every zip code. In 2024 alone, it served nearly 29 million people. This year, the need continues to grow—not only among those traditionally considered vulnerable, but also among families and individuals facing unexpected hardships. The Salvation Army remains committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting human needs in His name without discrimination, bringing hope, healing, and transformation to every corner of the country.Shape
