Salvationist Service Corps: Loving, Serving, and Discipling Together

Each summer, young adults from across The Salvation Army Southern Territory step into a unique opportunity to live out their faith through the Salvationist Service Corps (SSC). More than just a mission trip, SSC is a six-week discipleship and service experience designed to shape young adults spiritually while partnering with Salvation Army ministries around the world.

At its core, SSC is built on three simple but powerful values: to love, serve, and disciple. Participants are invited to love others as Christ loves, serve humbly alongside local communities, and grow as disciples while helping others do the same. Rather than coming in with all the answers, SSC teams enter each context with open hands, ready to learn, support, and join in the work God is already doing.

In the summer of 2026, three teams will be sent out to serve in diverse and meaningful locations:

ARGENTINA – This team will partner with local corps and ministries, engaging in community outreach, youth programs, and relational ministry. It will be a chance to experience vibrant culture while building meaningful connections and serving alongside local leaders in a traditional Salvation Army setting.

NEW ZEALAND – Serving within the New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa Territory, this team will support corps ministries, youth initiatives, and training environments. They will have the opportunity to learn from a dynamic and diverse congregation while contributing to ongoing ministry efforts.

WORLD CUP TEAM (NORTH AMERICA) – This team will travel to Vancouver, Seattle, and Dallas, supporting ministry opportunities connected to the global gathering across these cities for the international soccer tournament. While some locations may include outreach tied to the World Cup, the heart of the team remains the same: to serve wherever needed, partnering with local Salvation Army expressions through community engagement, outreach, and relational ministry.

SSC is an important contribution to the spiritual development of young adults. In a season of life often marked by transition and uncertainty, SSC provides a space for clarity, growth, and calling. Participants are stretched beyond their comfort zones, challenged to depend on God daily, and invited into authentic Christian community. Many return home with a deeper understanding of their faith, a stronger sense of purpose, and a clearer vision of how God is moving in their lives.

Just as importantly, SSC strengthens the global nature of The Salvation Army. It reminds young adults that they are part of something much bigger than themselves — a worldwide movement united in mission. Through shared service and mutual learning, participants and host communities are encouraged, equipped, and impacted.

As we look ahead to this summer, we celebrate the opportunity for these teams to go, not as experts, but as learners. Not to lead alone, but to serve alongside. And not for their own recognition, but for the glory of God. Please be in prayer for our 24 young adults heading out into the world to live out the gospel this summer!
