Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast seeks Thanksgiving meal donations
SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, Miss. (WLOX) — The Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast is asking for Thanksgiving donations to help families put a holiday meal on the table.
The organization is collecting whole turkeys, fresh or frozen, along with traditional sides like stuffing, canned vegetables and cranberry sauce.
Salvation Army marketing coordinator Morgan Shiyou said the goal is to have the meal kits distributed the week before Thanksgiving. She said that gives families a chance to prepare and enjoy Thanksgiving together at home.
“I think it’s very important that families have that time together, and if the Salvation Army can give hope through your donations and create memories for the next generation and the younger generation then it’s just going to make such a meaningful impact on these families who are already struggling,” Shiyou said.
Items can be dropped off at the following Salvation Army Center of Hope locations:
- 2029 22nd St., Gulfport, Mississippi
- 3808 Arlington S., Pascagoula, Mississippi
Donations are due by Nov. 16.
Shiyou said the Salvation Army also is looking ahead to Christmas and is seeking volunteers to ring the bell during the holiday season.
