Salvation Army Brings Comfort After Grand Blanc Tragedy

When violence and fire struck the LDS church in Grand Blanc on September 28, families were left grieving, shaken, and searching for hope. In those difficult hours, The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services team from the Flint Citadel Corps was there to walk alongside the community quietly.

Care in the Midst of Crisis

The team set up at the reunification center, near the scene, and started serving snacks, coffee, Gatorade, and water. It was not just about providing food, but about showing kindness during a moment when people felt numb and overwhelmed. Many family members and first responders said that the simple act of handing someone a cold drink or offering food reminded them that they were seen and cared for.

Presence That Brings Peace

Alongside the meals, the team offered words of comfort, prayer for those who asked, and a listening ear for those who needed to talk. Their ministry wasn't loud or dramatic — it was the ministry of presence: being there, shoulder to shoulder with people in pain, reminding them that they didn't have to face this tragedy alone.

A Mission of Hope

The Salvation Army’s role in Grand Blanc was about more than just disaster relief. It was about being a consistent source of compassion and a good neighbor when the community needed it most. In times of heartbreak, The Salvation Army EDS service became a quiet testament that even in darkness, love and hope can be discovered.

 Thank you, EDS Team
