Major Jason Perdieu was suddenly Promoted to Glory early in the morning of March 30, 2026, at the age of 51.

Jason Todd Perdieu was born on January 21, 1975, in Lynchburg, VA, the son of Janet and David Perdieu. After David’s death, he considered his mother and Richard Cunningham as his parents.

Growing up, Camp Happyland deeply impacted on him, where he was a camper, staff member, and program staff member. His family played a crucial role in establishing Camp Happyland—now known as Camp Rappahannock in the Potomac Division.

Raised in Lynchburg, he graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1993 and received an associate’s degree and ordination from the Evangeline Booth College as a member of the Prayer Warriors session of cadets in 2010. He married Lieutenant Rachel Pruitt on June 11, 2022.

Corps appointments during his 15 years of service as a Salvation Army officer include; Waynesboro, VA; and three posts in the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division (El Dorado, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs). The Hot Springs Corps was where the Major was pastoring when he passed.

He was known for his dedication to God and his love for people. All who knew Jason were impacted by his deep love for the Lord, his love for his family, his vibrant sense of humor, and his absolute transparency.

Major Jason Perdieu is preceded in death by his father, David.

He is survived by his wife, Captain Rachel Perdieu; his parents, Janet and Richard Cunningham; two brothers, Steven (Katie) Perdieu; Chip (Ali) Cunningham; and one sister, Lauren (Adrian) Baddar; as well as two nieces and three nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to establish the Jason Perdieu Camp Scholarship Fund to provide an opportunity for future generations to be influenced by the same life-changing experience that shaped Jason’s life forever.

Two Celebrations of Life will be held for Major Perdieu. The first will be on April 8, 2026 at the First Church of the Nazarene, in Hot Springs, AR. The second service will be conducted by the Potomac Division at the Orchard Creek Country Club in Waynesboro, VA on April 17, 2026.
