Prayer Works: A 24/7 Prayer Testimony

I began my 30-minute commitment for the 24/7 Prayer initiative by allowing time for praise and thanksgiving to God for His provisions, protection, faithfulness, and healing of the mind, body, and soul. There is so much anger in society today, resulting in serious mental and emotional distress. I asked God for transformation and healing for those we serve in the community, as well as those we serve behind bars, so they will open their hearts and invite Jesus in.

I included personal prayers for my burdens, family ties, friends, co-workers, spiritual growth, and unity in this country. For various reasons, we allow ourselves to grow so far apart from each other, and before we realize it, we can lose connection altogether. I am so thankful that God never disconnects from us. May we be mindful of the words we speak, and when we unintentionally offend others, may we apologize with sincerity. As believers, we are called to extend forgiveness, humility, and reconciliation. Then we can gracefully call each other brothers and sisters in Christ.

On July 16, I was concerned about a donor’s well-being because we had not heard from him. We lifted up a prayer specifically for him, and the very next day, we received two donation checks on his behalf. This was a clear and immediate answer to our prayers. I love God’s timing!

This prayer participation reinforced the power of collective intercession for me. Just knowing that my prayers connected seamlessly with the prayers before and after me created a sense of spiritual momentum and unity. The experience strengthened my personal discipline, connected me with God’s presence, and highlighted how even brief moments of intentional prayer can produce significant outcomes. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this initiative — prayer works!
