Since 2022, Captains Brenna and Vinal Lee have faithfully served the communities of Brown County and Bloomington as Corps Administrators. They have loved getting to know the community and the people they met. It has been a joy for them to see the ways that God has worked in the lives of so many.
In the coming month, the Lees will be following God's calling on their lives to serve with The Salvation Army Caribbean Territory. They will be based in Kingston, Jamaica, supporting the work in 16 countries throughout the territory.
Captain Vinal will serve as Territorial Emergency and Mission Support Officer, and Captain Brenna will serve as Territorial Secretary for Spiritual Life Development and Compliance Officer for the next three years.
Before the Captains leave the Bloomington and Brown County area for God's next calling on their lives, they have a few things to share with their community.
What they loved the most about their time in these communities:
"In Bloomington, we loved watching programs grow and getting connected with a diverse group of people. We have a particular fondness for Angel Tree and all the young people our community has supported over the years. In Brown County, we loved our ministry with our youth group and the ways we were able to impact and influence middle and high school students."
A message they would like to share with their supporters in the communities:
"We would like to thank our community for their commitment to partnering with us in the mission to serve those most in need, in Jesus' name. We implore them not to waver in their steadfast resolve to support The Salvation Army for years to come."
The growth they have seen in the communities and programs:
"In Bloomington, we saw the successful launch of our weekly youth program Club 316, which provided practical life skills to local children in a Christ-centered environment.
In Brown County, we experienced the growth of our youth group, with the season seeing a record number of students attending every Thursday. Beyond numerical increase, we have been privileged to observe a generation of young people commit to becoming followers of Jesus. They’ve matured in their love for God, understanding in His Word and discipline in spiritual practices like worship, prayer and scripture reading. This has been one of our greatest joys in our short few years in this appointment!"
Their Prayer for the communities:
"Our prayer for the community is that they would not grow weary in doing good."
Last thoughts:
"Transition has always been part of The Salvation Army as well as our ongoing promise to "do the most good." New leaders provide an opportunity for fresh vision, new skills, and ongoing energy. We are excited for the future of Bloomington and Brown County."
Thank you to the Captains for their love, passion, and heart for serving the communities in Brown County and Bloomington. You have met "human needs in Jesus name without discrimination."
