NATIONAL WOMEN OFFICERS' EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE 2026 AT PUNE
The National Women Officers' Empowerment Conference 2026 brought together more than 100 women officers and resource persons from across The Salvation Army territories in India under the inspiring theme “Growing Together.” Held at Union Biblical Seminary, Pune, Maharashtra, from 31st May to 3rd June 2026, the conference was organised by The Salvation Army International Headquarters, South Asia Zone (IHQ London), in collaboration with the India National Office, Kolkata and India Western Territory.
This significant gathering aimed to strengthen leadership capacity, promote spiritual growth, foster collaboration, and empower women officers, while reaffirming their vital role in mission, ministry, and social transformation.
A Gracious Beginning
The conference commenced with a warm and gracious welcome from Colonel Sunita Christian, National Secretary for Women Development. This was followed by a responsive Scripture reading from Psalm 118:23–29, setting a tone of gratitude and reverence.
Colonel (Dr.) Andrews D. Christian, National Executive Officer, extended heartfelt greetings to all participants[. He expressed gratitude for their safe journeys and warmly welcomed the International Secretaries, Commissioner John Kumar Dasari and Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari, acknowledging their 35 years of dedicated service. The dignitaries and leaders were honoured with shawls and bouquets, symbolising appreciation and respect.
A Spirit-Filled Atmosphere
A time of prayer and praise created a deeply spiritual atmosphere, emphasising prayer as the source of wisdom and divine guidance. The chorus “Move Holy Spirit” uplifted hearts, and participants experienced a profound sense of God's presence.
The Scripture reading from Proverbs 31:25–31, led by Major Beena Ebenezer, powerfully affirmed the dignity, strength, and wisdom of a woman of God, setting the spiritual foundation for the days ahead.
Theme Introduction: “Growing Together”
Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari introduced the theme, emphasising collaboration among women leaders, shared learning, and mutual encouragement. She highlighted the importance of recognising God-given gifts and abilities and encouraged participants to build meaningful connections across territories. Her welcome to first-time attendees and appreciation for the organisers reflected the spirit of unity and gratitude that defined the conference.
Leadership Vision and Keynote Address
Commissioner John William Polimetla, Territorial Commander, IWT highlighted the responsibility of leaders to mentor and uplift women, stressing the need to equip the next generation. He encouraged leaders to remain focused on mission rather than comfort or convenience.
Delivering the keynote address on “Growing Together,” Commissioner John Kumar Dasari drew from 1 Corinthians 12:12 and Colossians 3:14 to underscore unity and love within the Body of Christ. He emphasised spiritual unity, intentional leadership development, and active ministry engagement.
Reflecting on the legacy of William Booth, he affirmed the vital role of women in ministry and commended Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari's leadership. He outlined key priorities, including leadership pathways, empowerment, emotional healing, social engagement, and accountability. He concluded by reminding participants that true growth is achieved collectively—through unity, shared purpose, and empowered leadership.
Insightful Sessions and Training
Over the three days, participants were enriched through a series of insightful sessions led by distinguished resource persons:
- Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari conducted Bible studies and sessions on equipping women officers, as well as emotional healing and restoration.
- Dr. W. S. Annie, Principal of UBS Pune, led sessions on structured ministry, leadership pathways, and Bible study.
- Rev. Jyoti S. Singh, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Women Concern, NCCI, presented on educational empowerment, resilience, self-care, and emotional well-being.
- Commissioner John William Polimetla led a session on women in communication.
- Colonel (Dr.) Andrews D. Christian addressed the role of women in social media.
- Major Anugrah Masih, Zonal Coordinator for Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Response (SASIA), spoke on women's involvement in social justice and combating modern slavery.
- Major Rajasree Kagitha, IFSS SASIA Zonal Support Lead, presented on TSA compliance.
Each session provided practical insights, spiritual depth, and leadership tools, enabling participants to reflect, learn, and grow both personally and professionally.
A Transformational Experience
The conference proved to be a deeply enriching and transformative experience. It reaffirmed that a woman of God is clothed with strength and dignity and, through dependence on Him, becomes resilient and impactful. Participants were strengthened in their faith, equipped in leadership, and inspired to become agents of change in their communities.
Closing Session and Final Charge
The final session, led by Commissioner Lalhimpuii, concluded with a powerful message from Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari. She reminded participants of God's purpose for their lives and called them to live in love, faith, and humility, relying fully on His strength.
Emphasizing integrity, respect, and wise leadership, she urged women officers to put their learning into practical action. Drawing inspiration from Moses' dependence on God, she challenged everyone to move forward confidently in faith.
The conference concluded with a deeply spiritual moment at the Mercy Seat, where many renewed their commitment to God's calling. Through worship, teaching, and fellowship, the theme “Growing Together” was not only discussed but truly experienced.
As participants returned to their respective fields of ministry, they carried with them renewed vision, strengthened leadership, and a shared commitment to serve—growing together in faith, unity, and purpose.
