The Salvation Army of Vigo County has announced new funding to reinvigorate its Pathway of Hope program, which works with local families to end generational poverty. Two anonymous supporters have contributed a total of $27,000 to help The Salvation Army enroll more families in the program in 2026.

"We're always thankful for the community assistance here at The Salvation Army, especially those who are so involved in supporting the Pathway of Hope program," said Major Tim Parker with The Salvation Army of Vigo County.

Rhonda Harden, the Pathway of Hope Case Manager for The Salvation Army, works directly with families enrolled in the program to address their unique barriers, set goals, and make a plan to become self-sufficient and create a better future for their children.

"I have high hopes for the future of Pathway of Hope in Terre Haute," said Harden. "My goal for Pathway of Hope is to grow this program through hard work and dedication. I want to meet the needs of as many families as possible and teach them that there is hope for a brighter future if they are willing to recognize their strengths, work hard, and make positive choices that will help them to become self-sufficient."

The Salvation Army is inviting families who are serious about making positive changes to their lives to visit the corps community center, located at 234 S. 8th Street in Terre Haute, and learn more about enrolling in this free program.

The front office is open Monday-Friday 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM. Families must have at least one child under the age of 18 to participate. They are asked to bring a valid photo ID and Social Security Card for all household members 18 and older and a birth certificate for household members under 18.
