Through its annual Movers for Moms campaign, Two Men And A Truck is supporting women at shelters ahead of Mother’s Day. As part of this community-driven campaign, the company is collecting essential care items across the United States during the month of April, including right here in Central Indiana.

Box.jpgTwo Men and A Truck has selected The Salvation Army Ruth Lilly Women and Children’s Center as a recipient of collected items with the aim to bring the women living in the shelter some joy before Mother's Day. Residents of the shelter have escaped domestic violence or experienced homelessness and are in the process of rebuilding their lives with the help of The Salvation Army.

“Most of the women who come to our shelter have very little personal items,” said Pam McGaha, Director of the Ruth Lilly Women and Children’s Center. “The women are coming from really difficult times and the items we receive from the Movers for Moms campaign help in a big way."

The campaign is looking for everyday items that will help women through their journey back to independence. Donated items can include shampoo, conditioner, diapers, wipes, women’s socks and underwear, razors, deodorant, lotion, laundry detergent, sanitary items, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Last year, more than 528,000 items were donated across the United States to help hundreds of shelters in 47 states. In Central Indiana, the community donated 3,000 items to support residents of the Ruth Lilly Women and Children's Center.

“At Two Men and A Truck, giving back is truly part of our DNA,” said Jennifer Sterrett, Marketing Specialist for Two Men and A Truck. “I love seeing how something as simple as a small donation can come together to make a big impact for women and children who've been affected by domestic violence.”

HOW TO HELP

Donations can be dropped off at several Indianapolis and surrounding areas: Two Men and A Truck locations, all FC Tucker locations, all YMCA of Greater Indianapolis locations, Herron Property Apartments, and Jennifer’s Flower Boutique in Fortville.

The community also has the option to purchase right from The Salvation Army Ruth Lilly Women and Children’s Center wish list on Amazon.

In addition to donated items, four Lincoln Square Pancake House locations will be holding a Dine to Donate event on April 9. A percentage of proceeds from these locations will be donated to the Movers for Moms campaign.
