International Women’s Day 2026 Celebrated Across India Central Territory with the Inspiring Theme “Give to Gain”

International Women’s Day Celebration

INDIA CENTRAL TERRITORY – 8 March 2026: India Central Territory joyfully marked International Women’s Day 2026 with vibrant celebrations, meaningful reflections, and a strong message of hope and purpose. Women from corps, divisions, districts, areas, and institutions gathered under the inspiring theme “Give to Gain.”

The celebrations highlighted the power of selfless giving and the profound impact women continue to make in families, workplaces, communities, and ministries. From thoughtful gatherings to creative activities, the day was marked with enthusiasm, gratitude, and renewed commitment.

A Spirit-Filled Beginning

The programmes began on a reverent note with a devotional prayer, acknowledging God’s blessings upon women who serve selflessly in every sphere of life. As the day fell on a Sunday, the prayer set a reflective and grateful tone, reminding everyone of the spiritual strength that fuels service and compassion.

An Inspiring Message of Purpose

One of the key highlights was the insightful address by Lt. Colonel Razia Gurnam, Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, delivered at Thiruvottiyur and Central Corps, Chennai Division. She beautifully unfolded the theme “Give to Gain,” emphasising that true fulfilment—joy, peace, and spiritual growth—comes not from receiving, but from giving wholeheartedly to God and to others.

“True gain comes when we give from the heart — to God, to others, and to the world in need.”

— Lt. Colonel Razia Gurnam

Drawing inspiration from the life of Christ and the legacy of women in Scripture and Salvation Army history, she encouraged women to give generously of their time, talents, prayers, and love, especially in supporting vulnerable women and children. Her message resonated deeply, inspiring participants to live lives of purpose and compassion.

Celebrations Across the Territory

Across the territory, the day was celebrated in diverse and creative ways. Awareness programmes, games, skits, processions, short talks, and sapling planting added colour and meaning to the occasion. In many places, women dressed in various professional costumes, showcasing the many roles women play in the secular world and society at large.

Senior women were honoured with shawls as a mark of respect and gratitude, recognising their years of dedication and service. The celebrations reflected the strength, resilience, and sacrificial spirit of women committed to both mission and community.

Empowering Thousands of Women

Approximately 270 corps and over 5,000 women took part in the International Women’s Day programmes across the India Central Territory. Divisional Directorates of Women’s Ministries (DDWMs) played a key role in organising the events, ensuring that every gathering concluded with a special prayer of blessing over all women, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the Army and to society.

A Renewed Commitment

The programmes concluded with a renewed commitment to live out the essence of “Give to Gain.” As participants reflected on the day, the message was clear: when women give from the heart, they become powerful agents of change—in their homes, communities, and ministries.

The Territory continues to uphold Women’s Ministries in prayer, seeking God’s grace for women to be enriched, empowered, and strengthened in every aspect of life.
