Rather than simply raising awareness, he expressed a desire to serve alongside local volunteers and provide tangible resources to families affected by the disaster. His team has worked closely with The Salvation Army, local leaders, and community partners to coordinate an event focused on meeting urgent needs and strengthening recovery efforts already underway throughout Lake County.

The event will include the distribution of flood recovery clean-up kits, including liquid disinfectants, laundry and dish detergent, gloves, sponges, mops, and other items identified as immediate community needs. Keith Lee has committed significant resources toward purchasing additional supplies to ensure families receive practical support as they continue rebuilding their lives. Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, has also matched Keith Lee’s financial donation to ensure that as many supplies as possible are provided to survivors.

This effort highlights the power of collaboration during times of crisis. Since the storms struck Northwest Indiana, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services teams have been actively serving affected communities through food distributions, disaster social services, and emotional and spiritual care. Monday's event represents an opportunity to expand those efforts while drawing national attention to the ongoing needs of families across Gary and surrounding communities.

Thousands of individuals have already expressed interest in helping, and The Salvation Army continues to accept donations of nonperishable food items, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and financial contributions to assist households affected by the storms. These gifts will help ensure that support remains available long after the immediate response is complete.

Beyond the immediate response, The Salvation Army remains in impacted communities for months after a disaster to provide social services as well as financial assistance. This event will make an impact in thousands of individuals’ lives immediately by providing supplies, hope, and the knowledge that they The Salvation Army is ready to walk alongside them every step of the way.

The Salvation Army is grateful for the generosity of Keith Lee, the dedication of volunteers, and the partnership of local organizations working together to bring hope to Northwest Indiana. As recovery continues, this event serves as a reminder that communities are strongest when neighbors, businesses, nonprofits, and caring individuals unite to help one another. Through compassion, service, and shared commitment, Gary families are being reminded that they are not facing this challenge alone.
